Mary Poppins is not safe from cancel culture

Just when you think cancel culture could not get any more ridiculous, the classic hit film Mary Poppins takes a jab from the British Board of Film Classification censors because they say it features “discriminatory language.”

The BBFC said the film will now be rated PG instead of U for Universal.

The term in question is “Hottentots.” The term is used to describe soot-faced chimney sweeps.

The BBFC claims the term could be offensive to blacks and fell short of saying that “Hottentots” could mean the same as “blackface.”

Spokespersons said the rating is being changed to protect children from the “derogatory term.”
