Lakeland, Florida —  A McDonald’s drive-thru employee is behind bars after she pulled a gun on a customer and opened fire.

According to the Lakeland Police Department, the incident took place Friday, June 14 during breakfast hours.

Police said that Chassidy Gardner, 22, became upset after a customer pointed out that their food order was wrong. When the customer said something, Gardner threw drinks at the customer through the drive-thru window.

One of the customers then opened the window, reached inside, and began throwing cups at the employees.

Surveillance video shows that Gardner exchanged more words with the customer before retreating outside.

Once outside, Gardner pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the customers, striking the customer’s car.

Gardner initially lied about the incident, but she confessed when she realized it was caught on video. However, Gardner claims that she feared for her life and fired the shots as a “warning.”
