Homosassa, Florida — For years, private firearm collectors have been able to sell guns and ammo at Howard’s Flea Market, located in Homosassa, Florida.
The flea market allowed to sell of handguns, rifles, and all ammunition.
Well, that privilege will be no more.
Sunday, May 19, 2024, was the last day shoppers would be able to purchase any type of firearm or ammunition at the flea market.
Management at Howard’s Flea Market said their decision was based on pressure from the government.
The government says they are attempting to control the sell of private gun collections due to the fact that there are no background checks for those who purchase firearms from a private collector.
Sellers say they are disappointed in the decision and are even more disgusted at the fact that the government is trying to interfere with private collectors selling their personal firearms.
Purchasing firearms from a private seller in Florida is not illegal, however, individuals will no longer be able to use the flea market to facilitate that sale.
