A Florida bill would prevent students from using cell phones, or any other device not issued by the school from "Bell to Bell." A current bill prohibits phone use during instructional hours, however, the new bill would extend to the entire campus while school is in session. HB 949, a general bill by Demi Busatta, Republican for District 114 is heading up the bill. The bill reads in part: Wireless Communications Devices on School Grounds: Prohibits students from using wireless communications devices during school day, rather than during instructional time; requires district school boards to designate locations within school buildings for students to use wireless communications devices during school day. 4 teens dead following chase, trooper slams into SUV at high-rate of speed

Florida  - Four teens  -- ages 14 to 16 -- are dead following a high-speed chase in Waldo. The incident started when an SUV was stolen in Gainesville and later seen after a license plate scanner detected the stolen vehicle. When an Alachua County sheriff's deputy confirmed the vehicle was stolen he attempted to make a traffic stop. The teen driving the SUV slowed down but then fled the scene. According to reports, the deputy said he could tell that there were multiple occupants in the stolen vehicle. The chase reached speeds of 111 miles per hour, however, deputies had to back off due to department vehicle limitations. The Florida Highway Patrol then jumped in and resumed the chase through Waldo.
